New Podcast: Here Come They Might Be Giants

This Friday They Might Be Giants come to town for a one-night affair at the Port City Music Hall. A pop/alt/fun/probably not easily defined band has been playing for more than 20 years, but recently has developed a following among...kids.

A string of kids albums, beginning with No! in 2002 and last year's "Here Come The 123's," have introduced the guys behind "Boss of Me," "Particle Man" and "Birdhouse in Your Soul" to a new generation. But it's also brought notoriety. The band won its second Grammy thanks to "Here Come The 123's."

In this week's podcast I got John Linnell on the hotline to talk about They Might Be Giants considerable longevity and how their music works well for everyone, regardless of age. (And yes, it's the first time we've tried out the hotline on the podcast. Needs a little work but we're getting there.)

Some of the more interesting things to come out of this week's show?

According to Linnell, the change from kids to adults? Really not that big. (Like, you know, not talking about nude clowns.)

Harder work? Playing for kid audiences.

New records on the horizon: For kids "Here Comes Science" is due out this fall, with a new album for the rest of us in the works.

Find out all of this and much more in the podcast.
