Giselle covers Maine's society scene

Girl Scouts together. That is our song

I was a girl scout in my youth in St. Louis, Mo., while attending Flynn Park Elementary School in University City. I even have the pictures to prove it:

Finally recovered from all those Divas. What a rush!

The Dash of Diva event on Thursday was so awesome it took me a whole day to recover. (From the fun, not the free drinks).

Divas party on. The music and fashion and free stuff keep coming.

Gift bags are gone, but there is still PLENTY of free stuff!

It is quite the scene here at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, where the Dash of Diva evening is in full swing.

Divas come dashing in

We're here! The Holiday Inn by the Bay, where divas are lined up around the corner to get in to Portland's massive girls night out.

Salt of the earth. And - MAN! That room is red!!

"HI! WELCOME TO SALT'S OPEN HOUSE!"

(Says Erin R. Anderson, in the far left of the picture)

An artist, and an art exhibit, not to be missed.

Tonight (Monday, Oct. 26th) the Portland Museum of Art's Committee of 100 kicked off a new exhibit at the Free Street museum.

Little black dress worked. Elvis loved it.

In the end, I selected the black dress from Goodwill for the McAuley Residence "An Evening in Hollywood" fundraising auction.

Your social event for this evening: How kind of me.

Tonight, Author Michael J. Chasse will give a talk on the power of kindness at the Biddeford Pool Fire Barn, located on Lester B. Orcutt Blvd.

Giselle Goodman, a 1995 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, moved to Maine in 1997 and started reporting. She hasn't stopped yet. She sings really well. She tells decent jokes and is mildly obsessed with celebrity gossip.

Giselle's most useful talent, however, is the ability to study - then write about - the social behaviors and gatherings of other members of her species. That's what you'll find in "Social Graces" (and its sister column, appearing weekly in the Maine Sunday Telegram).

You can help by inviting Giselle to a party, telling her something she didn't know already (which is lots), or by feeding her a piece of your juicy gossip.

Get in touch! You can reach me at 207-791-6382 or by email. Until then, Cheers!
