USM baseball is ranked No. 3 in the nation according to the American Baseball Coaches Association Division III poll released today. USM is ranked No. 1 according to the D3baseball.com Top-25 poll released today. The Huskies (28-3) went 8-0 last week and have now won 16 straight games. Senior outfielder Ryan Pike of Saco was named Little East Conference Player of the Week Monday night, after hitting .447 (15-for-38) with 13 runs scored, five doubles, three home runs and 28 RBI during the last eight wins. 050802 USM 3-1.JPG

A former Portland Pirates beat writer who has covered two winter Olympics for the paper, Jenn will expand her beat this year to include the University of Southern Maine, St. Joseph's College, Bowdoin College, the University of New England, and Southern Maine Community College.

She will continue to cover the University of Maine Black Bears, the state's only division one program.
