The Maine baseball community will honor legendary
Longtime baseball and hockey announcer Gary Thorne ('70) will be Master of Ceremonies. Winkin brought six teams to the College World Series in his 21-year coaching career at Maine from 1975-1996. Nine of his players eventually made it to the major leagues. Winkin has been rehabilitating since suffering a stroke in December of 2007. The dinner was organized by baseball alumni. Interested? Jenn covers Maine college sports for the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.
