Rest assuredWe brought up the fact before that despite the Yankees' depth, they are relying on only three starters in the playoffs, using them on three days' rest (the same went for the Red Sox, at least in regards to Jon Lester). C.C. Sabathia, a.k.a. The Horse, is capable of less rest, and has proven it. A.J. Burnett, it seems, is not, after New York's 8-6 loss to the Phillies on Monday. Burnett did not record an out in the third before leaving. Now the Yankees are asking 37-yard-old Andy Pettitte to pitch on three days' rest, in Game 6 on Wednesday. Pettitte is one of those ultimate big-game pitchers, but it may be asking too much. So this Series could go to seven games ... where the Yankees will have Sabathia again. Two Sea Dogs relievers got into Monday's game in the Arizona Fall League. Richie Lentz's confidence must be zooming along. He has a 0.84 ERA after two more scoreless innings (1 H, 1 BB, 2 K) ... Dustin Richardson has had some shaky outings, but he pitched a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout. In the Dominican Winter League, catcher Mark Wagner is battting .346 (9-for-26).
